This MSc program in Artificial Intelligence is a conversion program designed to shape graduates from a wide range of academic backgrounds into AI experts. Its unique character makes it attractive to students from diverse academic disciplines who may require additional support in areas beyond their previous field of study, such as mathematics or programming. Before embarking on the course, students receive an induction program in mathematics and programming to furnish them with essential foundational skills for success. This induction program is accessible throughout the year, and the University’s expert support team is readily available to provide supplementary assistance in mathematics and programming as needed.
As part of the program, students will be given the chance to apply for a paid internship with one of our industry collaborators, including notable names like The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust and Transport for West Midlands. These industry partners will not only offer practical case studies based on real-life situations but also provide a cloud training environment for students to simulate authentic scenarios.
A significant goal of this initiative is to boost representation from currently marginalized groups within the AI and Data Science domains, encouraging graduates from diverse backgrounds to contemplate a career in these fields. To support this objective, several £10,000 scholarships are on offer for students enrolled in this program, with a focus on prioritizing female, black, and disabled students. Students holding a confirmed offer for a place six weeks before the course commencement date will be invited to apply for these scholarships.
What happens on the course?
The MSc Artificial Intelligence program is structured into six segments. Among them, four are dedicated to taught courses, each encompassing two modules worth 15 credits each. The remaining two segments are allocated for the MSc Artificial Intelligence Dissertation and the Industry Internship. The anticipated modules for the four taught segments during the academic year 2020/21 are:
