What is Chevening Scholarship?

Chevening is a prestigious scholarship program funded by the UK government, funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office and partner organisations. Eligibility Criteria for Indian Students

To be eligible for a Chevening Scholarship, Indian students must meet the following criteria:

• Academic Excellence:

  Have an undergraduate degree equivalent to a UK 2:1 (or higher). Students with a master’s degree can also apply for the scholarship. Be a citizen of a Chevening-eligible country or territory. Commit to returning to your home country for at least two years after your scholarship ends. 

• Professional Experience:

  Have at least two years (2,800 hours) of work experience. It is not mandatory to have experience from one company and you can add up to experience from 15 different firms.

  This can include: 

  • Full-time employment 
  • Part-time employment 
  • Voluntary work 
  • Paid or unpaid internships 

  Experience gained during mandatory employment for your degree does not count. You can combine up to fifteen different work periods to meet the requirement.

• Language Proficiency:

  Demonstrate proficiency in the English language (usually through IELTS or TOEFL).

• Commitment to Leadership:

  Demonstrate potential to be a future leader in their field.

Requirements for Application

The Chevening application process involves the following steps:

1. Online Application: Submit a detailed online application form before November 5, 2024.
2. Reference Letters: Provide two references from individuals who can attest to your academic ability, professional experience, and leadership potential.
3. English Language Proficiency Test: Submit scores from an approved English language proficiency test (e.g., IELTS, TOEFL).
