Course Overview
This two-year program is designed to equip students for a profession focused on offering services and advocating for individuals facing diverse cognitive, physical, social, and emotional challenges. Throughout the program, students will gain knowledge of both theoretical foundations and practical skills, enabling them to proficiently navigate the therapeutic recreation process.
Recreation Therapy is founded on the principle that play, recreation, and leisure are fundamental in achieving an individual’s optimal health and well-being, ultimately enhancing their overall quality of life. By setting meaningful goals and objectives, professionals in Recreation Therapy utilize recreation as a therapeutic tool to enhance health and promote wellness.
Students will gain hands-on experience through volunteering and experiential learning, including field placements and a range of community engagements. These experiences will allow students to further enhance their abilities in assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
