Course Overview
Construction Management encompasses the oversight, estimation, and scheduling of construction projects across residential, industrial, commercial, and institutional sectors. Skilled managers possess the expertise to mitigate costly delays, manage project boundaries, and optimize resources within existing budgets.
In the initial two terms of the two-year Ontario College Graduate Certificate program in Construction Project Management, the focus is on practical and targeted education. This includes honing managerial abilities in construction, placing emphasis on tasks like estimation, scheduling, procurement, and cost control. The program also stresses adhering to best practices in construction safety, quality management, legal documentation, and contracts. Subsequently, the third term of the curriculum emphasizes essential project management skills. The concluding semester reinforces theoretical learning through a hands-on project or participation in a cooperative education work term.
Graduates will additionally develop proficient communication skills necessary to collaborate with individuals at all echelons within the construction industry. These competencies will effectively prepare them for more demanding roles within the construction sector.
