The MSc Data Science is a conversion program, strategically devised to transform graduates from a wide spectrum of academic disciplines into specialists in Data Science. Prior to commencing the program, students receive an induction in mathematics and programming to arm them with the fundamental skills crucial for success. This induction program is accessible to students throughout the year, and the university’s expert support team stands ready to provide supplementary assistance in mathematics and programming as and when needed.
Part of the curriculum involves offering students the chance to apply for a paid internship with one of our partnered industries, including esteemed organizations like The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust and Transport for West Midlands. Our industry collaborators are committed to enhancing the program by supplying students with authentic case studies and granting access to their cloud training environment for simulating real-world scenarios.
A significant objective of this initiative is to boost the representation of underrepresented groups within the AI and Data Science domains, aiming to inspire graduates from diverse backgrounds to envision a career in these fields. To support this goal, we are providing a range of scholarships, each valued at £10,000, for students enrolled in this program. Special consideration will be given to female, black, and disabled students when awarding these scholarships.
What happens on the course?
The MSc Data Science program is divided into six sections. Among them, four consist of structured lessons, each encompassing two modules, each carrying 15 credits. The remaining two sections are allocated for the MSc Data Science Dissertation and the possibility of an Industry Internship. Furthermore, students will be registered for a complimentary preparatory program before the course commences, focusing on fundamental mathematics and programming.
